First time reviewing. I desired to give the product the opportunity after preordering it and then subsequently reading negative comments when i anticipated its arrival. Listed below are my pros and cons:
Pros:
-I just like the combo from the coral and brown kindle logo brown faux leather strip
-It does fit the kindle fire, although it is more snug than what I was expecting
Cons:
-It does have a very chemical odor as others have stated
-It is very thin/ little padding going on inside the "egg crate" style interior
-It is pretty overpriced for everything you get...maybe not dollar store bad...but maybe $10 and it will become more realistic for that which you get
I will be returning this for possibly a rooCASE which seemed to have much better reviews.
On the plus side, We are writing this review from my new fire and i am pleased so far!
Edit: it appears like amazon is charging a fee to return this as it isn't really technically defective? I might wind up keeping it afterall...I will say which it is slim which can be what I was looking for so it may fit in my purse...I'm just a little wary of methods protective it's going to be. Bottom line: I might still avoid this should you can!

I got mine 2 days after my Kindle, and it's really created a nice resting area for my Kindle when not in use.
Quality:
I certainly don't see any creases or obvious defects in workmanship like another reviewers have claimed. The leathery handle material has a tendency to pick-up some finger grease occasionally, but that comes off easily which has a cloth. While I am unable to say it's made of the most amazing material or quality, it's certainly comparable to numerous other sleeves. It beats the $5 - 10 eBay sleeves I've gotten for other devices, by far. I can not realize why people are leaving such negative reviews, that $30 is too much for something like this, especially whenever they clearly often see what it seemed like inside product images (did you forget to zoom?) before purchasing. what I got was just like pictured and described, and We've very little room for complaints regarding the quality.
Smell:
I have not a clue of what everyone else is smelling, but we're either all old here, have stuffy noses from seasonal allergies, or I merely got a different batch than everyone else. I'm able to smell the brand new plastic scent when I retain the sleeve directly during my face, but it's not overpowering at all. It's certainly magnitudes less of the scent than a new car, a whole new printer, etc. I didn't even notice it until I see the reviews. Your mileage may vary, depending on precisely how sensitive your nose is. Just know that when you receive one from the same batch as mine, it's on par (or less) as other electronics out there.
Product:
I'm a lttle bit worried about the relatively small margin involving the device and the zipper. I'm afraid I'm likely to not position the Kindle in far enough, and hold the zipper scratching the sides. Smaller margin means less wiggle-room to the Kindle while in transit, as well as smaller size for easier handling and fit, so I guess it's a fair trade-off -- as long as I could remember to consistently push it in completely before zipping. Inconvenient? Sure enough. But since a 7" tablet is exactly about size, I'm able to certainly deal with it.
Other reviewers have were unsatisfied with not enough protection. Exactly what are you expecting? If you're wanting ruggedization, you must consider finding a full case or bag instead. This is often a lightweight *sleeve*, designed for portability -- to protect the Kindle from light shocks as well as other objects while in a outer bag or pocket. That said, this sleeve has a serious little bit of protection in comparison to almost every other sleeves I've had. I feel absolutely confident it provides enough protection for which I'm going to be carrying the sleeve in (my MacBook Air bag, or my coat's inner pocket).
As long while you are confident which a compact sleeve is you're looking for, I believe this will carry out the job just fine for you personally too.

Does the Kindle Fire Zip Sleeve smell? Yes. Mine arrived today, so when other reviewers have shrieked for the blackened skies of woe, there's a light-to-medium plastichemical odor.
Dealbreaker? Perhaps for some. Maybe my sense of smell has dulled a smidge within the years, however, there is no chance the sleeve's emanations will permeate a household, car, bus, bedroom, insert-enclosed-space here. After removing mine in the packaging, I parked it in my front porch within the clean air to get a couple of hours, along with the scent is mostly diminished. I'm fairly confident the remaining odor will dissipate over time, but when it doesn't, I'm reasonably sure it is not likely to induce mid-40s limb deformities. In case you are overly sensitive to the telltale forms of odors, you'll probably wish to save yourself the trouble in order to find something constructed from different materials.
Yes, it's expensive. I knew that after i bought it. I certainly wouldn't condemn the sleeve to a asinine 1-star review based on its price. You *were* there once you clicked "Place Your Order", right? If the current release-time price is really a dealbreaker, the option is quite simple. Wait for the price to drop, or buy something else. Empowered purchasing, no?
The Zip Sleeve is reasonably well-constructed and forms a nice snug fit around the Kindle Fire. The interior, as other reviewers have noted, is sufficient for protecting and cushioning the tablet. The zipper enclosure is solid. The color scheme is appealing, along with the Amazon branding isn't obtrusive. I've had bad and good tablet and smartphone cases, as well as the Zip Sleeve falls within the upper 20% in terms of form factor, usability, and construction go. I'll rate it here the same: 4/5.
